Actor Biography

Matt Ward is a very versatile young artist and a triple threat in Hollywood. He is already an accomplished dancer, singer, choreographer and actor.

Ward currently stars on the Freeform series "The Bold Type," which reveals a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for the fictional global women's magazine, Scarlet. The show is inspired by the life of Joanna Coles who currently serves as chief content officer at Hearst Magazines and previously served as editor in chief of Cosmopolitan magazine. He portrays the role of Alex Crawford, a staff writer for Scarlet Magazine who recently got laid off from his dream job at the Wall Street Journal and has taken a job at Scarlet because he refuses to let New York defeat him. Joanna Coles executive produces alongside Amanda Lasher, David Bernad, Ruben Fleischer, Victor Nelli Jr., Holly Whidden, Matt McGuinness, and Sarah Watson.

Ward portrayed Simon Lacroix, otherwise known as the DC Comics villain Komodo, in an episode of season three of "Arrow" on The CW. His character in the DC Comics is widely known as a fellow archer and major enemy to the Green Arrow.

Previously, Ward starred in the medical drama "Remedy" opposite Enrico Colantoni and Sara Canning. The show provides an upstairs/downstairs look into the inner workings of a major city hospital. He portrayed the role of Brian Dekker, a young surgeon who also had to learn to empathize with his patients. The show was created by Greg Spotiswood for Global TV in Canada. Other television credits include guest spots on the miniseries "Book of Negroes," starring opposite Cuba Gooding Jr. and Louis Gossett Jr. for BET; "The Arrangement" on E! and "Supernatural" on The CW.

On the film side, Ward starred in "Lullaby for Pi" opposite Forest Whitaker, Clémence Poésy and Rupert Friend. He turned down a piano tutor for the film and taught himself jazz piano by watching YouTube clips. He also appeared in "Red Riding Hood," directed by Catherine Hardwicke; "TRON: Legacy," opposite Garrett Hedlund; "Charlie St. Cloud" alongside Zac Efron and "Alien vs. Predator."

Originally from Edmonton Alberta, Canada, Ward started dancing self-taught as a teenager.
